Here I was about to write an email to my two friends when I stopped and said to myself, “Self, you’re not doing this correctly”. I realized that I was about to email a thought and then write a post about it. Instead, I need to write an e-mail to the two people whose spam list I hope know I am not on.
So I have a number of RSS feeds on my iGoogle Desktop and one of them is from Rain City Guide . I really do enjoy reading what’s going on with the Seattle real estate market and do think these people provide excellent material. I especially enjoy reading most of what Ardell discusses.
So the purpose of this post was to tell my friends about something very subtle that Ronda Porter had done. She just wrote a post that I was compelled to click on based soley on the title. The title was just about daring me to see how much of a home or condo I could buy with putting $17,550 down. Now I realize this marketing technique is nothing new, I just hadn’t seen it in a while.
I think that we as consumers start to become numb to the large numbers associated with the Seattle real estate market and we don’ t even flinch at the phrase “1bd 1bath 660 sq.ft. $550,000“.
So that’s it. That’s all I feel compelled to share at this particular moment in time. The moral of this little story is that it all starts with a strong title. Whether you’re creating an entire SEO strategy or creating good copy. (and for the seo geeks, I hope you can see the pun in what I just did)
P.S. The funny thing about this post and subsequent emailing is that one of two friends is going to probably say, “hey Ryan, didn’t you just tell me last week not to email people my blog posts?”. My answer will be both “yes” and “no”. Hopefully it will be post-worthy.

What neither the title nor the post mention (but is in the comments) is that you need a household income of $140k to get that loan.
Alan,
Thanks for the comment! I believe that discussion of “disclosure” has already been beaten to death over at Rain City Guide. My reason for creating a post about it was that it sucked me in to read further. I realize that people can go round and round about everything that’s needed for disclosure, I was looking at it purely from a marketing stand point.
Thanks again for the input.
Ryan
