Traffic Marks’ results include the sub-listings (indented) results straight from Google’s SERPs. These sub-listings show zero inbound links from above results.
Traffic Marks demonstrates that back-links are important for high rankings in Google but do not represent the “trump card”. Sites that have more inbound links from the “hub” sites aren’t automatically #1 in Google for that search term. A balanced SEO strategy including good content, domain age, site structure, inbound anchor text, etc is still important.
I do like the information provided by Traffic Marks. I think Traffic Marks provides the initial steps needed to identify where to acquire quality back-links. After identifying these “high value targets”, I believe it’s very important to develop a strategy (and a reason) for these targeted sites to link to.
