Keyword stuffing is BAD. Why is keyword stuffing bad? Because not only does keyword stuffing look unprofessional and make your site look tacky, but keyword stuffing will also get you filtered or even blacklisted from a search engine. Keyword stuffing also makes your content a little harder to read because people don’t naturally write or speak and keyword stuff their conversations. [did you catch it?] 
Now what exactly is it? There are a number of ways a person can stuff keywords into the content of their page. Some of them are pretty obvious, others aren’t. Anywhere on a page where you can add or remove content is a potential place to stuff a bunch of keywords. This ranges from the Title, Meta Keywords, Meta Description, Body Content, Alt Tags, Link Titles, and Anchor Text. One of the most common areas I’ve seen a dealer over do it is in the Meta Keywords, Meta Description, Alt Tags, and on page content.
Why it used to work
Back in the day, you could stuff the Library of Congress into an alt tag and get all sorts of traffic. I remember seeing alt tags that contained hundreds of words. I also remember a few years ago making it a habit to check for hidden text at the bottom of every page I visited just to see what was there. Today, this isn’t the case. As search engines get more sophisticated, they are able to detect and filter out pages that appear the be stuffed with nonsense. Through their calculations, they are able to see and measure how well the content from the Title, Meta Keywords, Description, Page Content, Anchor Text matches up with each other. The degree of relevance between all these components can be a huge component to an algorithm.
Now how much is too much? That’s a good question. The amount of keywords you’re targeting for a page all depends on the amount of competition there is. I could write about this all night long…. but won’t.
So keep this in mind… when creating your “car dealer” seo strategy, write content in the style that you’d normally find in a newspaper, magazine, or good book. As a search engine’s algo gets more advance, it will be able to pick out poorly written content in a heart beat.
